We believe we have an obligation to minimize our impact on the natural environment. We also believe there is an inherent long-term cost benefit in lower energy costs. In essence, green energy initiatives are good for business and good for everyone.
Vesterra Inc. currently has 11 properties with active solar panels and 32 additional solar projects planned by the end of 2014.
Geothermal is thermal energy generated and stored in the Earth. Vesterra has five properties with operational geothermal systems.
By the end of 2013, Vesterra will have retrofitted the exterior and interior lighting on all our properties to LED lighting. LEDs (Light Emitting Diodes) use only a fraction of the energy of regular light bulbs while lasting up to 10 times longer.
Vesterra began investigating the installation of a pilot green roof project in 2012. A green or ‘living’ roof is partially or completely covered with vegetation and a growing medium. Green roofs absorb rainwater, provide insulation, and help to lower indoor heating and cooling costs.
LEED Building Design
Vesterra is in the investigation stage of its LEED building program. LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) is a concise framework designed to promote the installation of high-efficiency environmental solutions in building design, construction and management.
